Privacy policy
Effective: August 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Gear Reviews (“Gear Reviews,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) may collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit gear-reviews.com, contact us, join the community, or submit a partnership enquiry.
Important setup note: this starter site does not include an analytics platform, advertising script, newsletter provider, or live form endpoint. Update this policy before launch so it accurately names every service you connect and the jurisdiction in which you operate.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide. We may collect your name, email address, organization, message content, product information, communication preferences, and any other information you submit through contact, community, or partnership forms.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting and security providers may process information such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested pages, timestamps, referring pages, and security signals. This information is commonly used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and understand aggregate traffic.
Information from third parties. We may receive information from newsletter, form-processing, analytics, advertising, affiliate, or social platforms if and when those services are connected. This policy must be updated to identify them before they are used.
2. How we use information
We may use information to operate and secure the site; respond to messages and corrections; manage community subscriptions; evaluate products and partnership proposals; maintain editorial records; improve content and site performance; comply with legal obligations; and protect our rights, readers, contributors, and partners.
3. Cookies and similar tools
The supplied starter build does not set non-essential analytics or advertising cookies. Essential infrastructure providers may use cookies or similar technologies for security, load balancing, fraud prevention, or service delivery. If analytics, advertising, personalization, or consent tools are added, describe them here and provide any legally required controls before deployment.
4. How information is shared
We may share information with service providers that host the site, process forms, deliver email, provide security, or support business operations; with professional advisers; in connection with a merger, financing, sale, or transfer; when required by law; or when reasonably necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or abuse. We do not state that we sell personal information. If business practices change, this section must be updated before the change takes effect.
5. Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, maintaining consent and suppression records, supporting editorial documentation, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal requirements. Retention periods should be documented once live systems are selected.
6. Your choices and rights
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link provided in those messages. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding personal information. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some information may be retained where permitted or required by law.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and address the issue.
9. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards should be used for international transfers. Update this section once the operating entity and service-provider locations are known.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site, services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be revised when material changes are published.
11. Contact
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected]. Replace this address before launch if a different privacy contact will be monitored.
